Diane is an instructor at Lewis and Clark’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling specializing in group counseling training.

Graduate students from multiple counseling programs provide leadership for sixth graders at Ron Russell Middle School in the David Douglas School District.

The middle schoolers are given space and activities within the group to find strength and connection to their school community, while feeling safe to express their unique identity and to explore their personal differences.  Healing and growth come from universal  “me too” moments within the group when members support one another.

These healthy experiences in groups help to strengthen their confidence and to develop empathy for others, which ultimately reduce bullying behaviors.

Classes are taught in partnership with Professor Peter Mortola, Ph.D. (pmortola@lclark.edu,  bamgroups.com).
